Privacy policy

Quatrio Inc. ("Quatrio," "we," "us," or "our") operates sewing.tools (the "Site"). This policy explains what information the Site handles when you visit and how we protect it. We are a British Columbia, Canada corporation and follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

The short version: the Site uses no analytics, shows no advertising, and sets no cookies of its own. It needs your country — worked out from your IP address on each request — to show the right partner shop and currency, and it doesn't keep that or anything else about you.

1. Information the Site handles

What you enter into the calculators

The calculators run in your web browser. The measurements you type are not sent to our servers or to anyone else, and they're gone when you close the page.

Your machine picker answers

When you use the machine picker, your answers are placed in the page address (URL) so you can share or bookmark your results. Our server reads those answers from the URL to put together your recommendations. We don't store your answers or connect them to you. Like any web address, the URL can appear in our hosting provider's standard request logs (see section 3).

Your country

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, tells our server which country each request comes from, based on your IP address. We use it only to choose the partner shop and currency for your region — Canada or the United States and everywhere else — on the machine picker and when you follow a shop link. We don't store your country or your IP address.

Your unit preference

If you switch a calculator between imperial and metric, your choice is saved in your own browser's local storage (under the name sewingtools:units) so other calculators open in the same units. It never leaves your device and isn't sent to us. You can clear it at any time through your browser's site-data settings.

What we don't collect

• We don't use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting.
• We don't set cookies of our own.
• There are no accounts or logins, and we don't ask for your name, email, or phone number.
• If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply.

2. Affiliate links and partner cookies

Some links on the Site go to our partner retailers — Linda's Quilt Shoppe for visitors in Canada and SewingMachinesPlus for visitors in the United States and elsewhere. These links include a referral code and campaign tags that identify sewing.tools as the referrer. When you arrive at a partner's site, the partner (or its referral service) may set its own cookies to credit us with any purchase. Those cookies, and anything else you do on a partner's site, are governed by that partner's privacy policy, not this one.

3. Hosting and service providers

The Site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (United States). As part of operating and securing its network, Cloudflare processes basic request data — such as IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time — and may keep it in short-lived logs under its own privacy policy. We don't use these logs to track visitors. This processing may take place outside Canada, including in the United States.

4. How information is used

• To show machine recommendations, prices, and shop links for your region.
• To keep the Site running, secure, and free of abuse (through Cloudflare's infrastructure).
• To answer you if you contact us.

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.

5. Data retention

Because the Site doesn't collect personal information as you use it, there's nothing for us to retain or delete from your visit. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to respond. Cloudflare's request logs are retained under Cloudflare's own policies.

6. Your rights under Canadian law

Under PIPEDA and PIPA, you have the right to:

• know what personal information we hold about you,
• ask us to correct inaccurate information,
• withdraw consent to our handling of your information, and
• complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Since the Site itself doesn't collect personal information, these rights mostly apply to emails you send us. To make a request, write to hello@sewing.tools.

7. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We'll post any changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. If we start using analytics, advertising, or anything else that changes what's described here, this policy will say so before it takes effect.
